Amber Glenn Wins Bronze at 2014 JGP France

(8/22/14) - The 2014-15 international figure skating season is under way at JGP France in Courchevel.

The first medal of the international season belongs to reigning U.S. junior champion Amber Glenn. The Texas-based bronze medalist totaled 148.08 points. She joined Russia's Evgenia Medvedeva and Japan's Rin Nitaya on the podium.

Friday also saw the start of the ice dance competition. Going into tomorrow's free dance, just a quarter point separates the American teams. In their international debut, Emily Day and Kevin Leahy earned 41.64 points. They are in sixth and followed closely by teammates Chloe Rose Lewis and Logan Bye with 41.40 points. Leading after the short dance are Canada's Madeline Edwards and Zhao Kai Pang.

Chase Belmontes and Paolo Borromeo sit in ninth and 11th places, respectively, after making their Junior Grand Prix debuts Thursday. JGP veteran June Hyoung Lee of Korea sits in first. The men's free skate is also scheduled for Saturday.
