Eight Athletes to Represent Team USA at 2013 JGP Estonia

(10/8/13) - The 2013 International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (JGP) Series concludes Oct. 9-13, 2013, in Tallinn, Estonia. The event, being held at Skoda Ice Rink, begins Thursday with the ladies, pairs and men's short programs.

Eight athletes will represent the United States at the event in ladies, pairs and ice dance. Icenetwork will provide coverage of the event.

Hannah Miller, the 2012 U.S. junior bronze medalist, returns to international competition after winning a trio of silver medals in the 2012 JGP Series. She stood on the podium last fall at JGP events in Austria and Croatia before winning silver at the 2012 JGP Final. Tyler Pierce will make her international debut this week in Estonia. She is the 2013 U.S. novice champion and the 2012 U.S. intermediate bronze medalist.

This event marks the second JGP of the season for both teams. Madeline Aaron and Max Settlage won silver in Belarus, while Kaitlin Budd and Nikita Cheban finished seventh in Slovakia.

Holly Moore and Daniel Klaber hope to return to the podium after winning bronze at JGP Slovakia last month. They are the reigning U.S. junior pewter medalists and the 2012 U.S. novice champions.

Now in its 17th season, the JGP Series consists of seven international events in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of five designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, Dec. 5-8, in Fukuoka, Japan.
