(7/14/08) - Jessica Rose Paetsch & Jon Nuss, the 2008 U.S. junior champions and 2006 U.S. novice champions, announced they have decided to end their partnership.
We want to thank U.S. Figure Skating, fans, family, friends and many others for your support and understanding for the wonderful years that we had, Paetsch said. We hope to see that continue through the ventures we have in the future.
The team, which formed in 2005, debuted at the 2006 Southwestern Regional Championships, where they finished first in novice. They went on to capture novice gold at both the Midwestern Sectional in Centennial, Colo., and 2006 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships in St. Louis.
Paetsch and Nuss competed in their first Junior Grand Prix (JGP) Series events in 2006, finishing fourth in Hungary, and winning bronze in Taipei and at the JGP Final in Bulgaria. They capped the season by taking home the bronze medal as juniors at the 2007 State Farm U.S. Championships.
This past season they finished fifth at the JGP in Lake Placid, N.Y., won gold at the JGP in Germany and finished fourth at the JGP Final in Gdansk, Poland. After winning gold as juniors at the U.S. Championships, they finished fifth at the World Junior Championships.
Paetsch has formed a new partnership with Drew Meekins, who ended his six-year partnership with Julia Vlassov in the fall of 2007. Nuss has decided to take some time off from training to focus on his education. I'm very proud of what we've accomplished in our time together, Nuss said. We will remain very good friends and wish each other much happiness and success.
